SSH Telnet
Discover what Telnet is and where it’s used.
Secure Shell, better known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol employed to execute commands on a remote server or to exchange info between a hosting server and a client. Given that the data exchanged by the 2 sides is encoded, a third party can't intercept it, which makes SSH a favorite means of handling a web hosting account. The commands which could be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared server, for example, the possibilities are limited as you will not have root access to the hosting server, so you could only create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, export and import databases, etc. They are all actions that are executed inside the shared hosting account and don't need a higher level of access. By using a virtual or a dedicated server, you'll have the ability to set up server-side software or to restart the machine or just a specific service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, and if you do not use a UNIX-like OS, there are tons of applications for other OSs, that you can use to connect to the remote server as well.

If the
web hosting package deal which you’ve chosen during the signup procedure features SSH access by default, you'll be able to activate this feature with simply a mouse click from your Hepsia CP. If you have selected a different plan, the SSH access feature may be included via the Upgrades menu and it shall become available at once. All the details that you need to connect shall be conveniently listed within the SSH section of the CP - the hostname, the username and the port number. You may also set what password to use from the same place and you will be able to change it whenever you want. All commands that are permitted are listed in the Help articles which we've prepared for you, in addition to examples of the syntax which you should use. An additional advantage of enabling SSH access to your account is that you shall be able to upload files using an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting
SSH access is provided by default with some of our
semi-dedicated server plans, while with others you will be able to include it through the hosting CP if needed - even just for the current month. Either way, you are able to activate and de-activate the function with only one mouse click from the SSH section of the CP. In the same spot, you will find the server name, the port number and the username needed to connect to our platform. You shall also find a box in which you can input the password which you want to use, since it doesn't need to be the same as the one you use to log into the CP. For better protection, you can also change it as much as you require. The full list of the commands that can be performed in a semi-dedicated account is provided in our Knowledge Base, along with the syntax and several examples. An extra function after SSH access is activated shall be the ability to connect to your hosting space via SFTP through any FTP client that supports this sort of connections.

SSH Telnet in VPS
All our
virtual private server offers come with SSH access as standard, so you won't have to add any upgrades or activate anything - as soon as the server is set up and you receive its login information, you shall be able to connect via its main IP address and the login credentials which you've chosen through the signup procedure. As the VPS accounts feature full root-level access, there are no restrictions with regards to the commands that you could run. Your server shall be isolated from the others on the physical machine, so you shall be able to manage more or less everything through a command line, including server-side software installations and reboots. In this way, you may work with your files, databases and any apps you install in a fast and risk-free way.
